"Limehouse Laces has taught me a lot about football, but even more about life in general - kindness, hard work, friendship. You've made something amazing."

ABOUT
At Limehouse Laces, we are proud to be a true grassroots club, dedicated to nurturing and developing players from within our community. We believe in supporting every player’s journey, fostering growth both on and off the pitch. Unlike some clubs, we don’t poach players from elsewhere or discard our own in pursuit of a stronger squad. Instead, we remain committed to our players, helping them thrive through challenges and celebrate their successes as part of our football family.
At the foundation stage, we embrace the idea that young players are footballers first. We don’t typecast a 10-year-old as a “defender” or an “attacker.” Instead, we let the game be their teacher, encouraging them to explore every position on the pitch. Grassroots football is about more than just winning—it’s about giving players the freedom to develop skills, creativity, and confidence across the field
Our commitment to showing that football is for women and girls is reflected in our all-female leadership and coaching team. We’re passionate about creating a supportive environment where every girl can flourish and feel empowered to achieve her full potential.
At Limehouse Laces, we make football affordable for every girl in our community. For £125 a year, players get training, matches, kit, and the chance to grow with amazing female coaches, great facilities, and a community full of fantastic role models. The real cost of running our club is closer to £250 per player, but we work hard to keep fees low through fundraising and parent-to-parent generosity. We know most people don’t want charity—they want to contribute. By keeping our fees low, families can pay their way while still being part of a club that supports everyone.
In Tower Hamlets, one of the UK's most economically diverse boroughs, we’ve created a team that reflects our community—bringing together girls from all cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds. Whether through discreet free places for those in need or simple initiatives like boot swaps, we foster a spirit of mutual support without making anyone feel singled out.
Low cost doesn’t mean low quality. With top-tier coaching, and a mission to inspire every girl, we’re proving that grassroots football can be affordable and exceptional.
Football at Limehouse Laces isn’t just for the privileged—it’s for everyone.

Developing girls as individuals and players is at the centre of what we do.
At Limehouse Laces, our commitment is to developing girls who are well-rounded, intelligent, and motivated both on and off the pitch. We place a strong emphasis on versatility, positional awareness, and a deep understanding of the game. While winning is a a great outcome, our focus is on providing every girl with the opportunity to grow and benefit from our club's supportive environment. We avoid trials, offer sponsored places, and run female-only sessions to make football accessible to all. We believe that ability is not fixed; with time, effort, and opportunity, everyone can improve. Our philosophy encourages independent decision-making, enjoyment, and resilience, and we are dedicated to continuous improvement and lifelong learning. By nurturing these qualities, we aim to develop not only exceptional footballers but also individuals who are always striving to be their best and succeed in all aspects of life.
